Warranty & Repairs
We build Terlingua Threads gear to be the kind of thing you reach for year after year. And we want you to feel good buying from a small brand: confident you’re getting something made with careful craftsmanship, not taking a gamble. We stand by the quality of our products, which is why we offer a warranty in the first place. At the same time, we want to be honest about what we can responsibly promise as a small business. A warranty should be fair both ways: protecting you from manufacturing issues while keeping us healthy enough to keep improving the product and supporting you long-term. That’s why our limited warranty covers manufacturing defects for one year, and why we also offer lifetime care support to help after that. Longevity is the aim, even when the answer is repair instead of replacement.
Quick note on delivery issues
If your order arrives damaged, is missing, or is not what you ordered, please email support@terlinguathreads.com within 7 days of delivery with photos. We’ll fix it fast. (This is separate from the manufacturing-defects warranty below.). Please refer to our Returns & Exchanges page.
1-Year Limited Warranty: Manufacturing Defects
Coverage period: 1 year from the original purchase date.
Who’s covered: The original purchaser with proof of purchase. Not transferable.
This limited warranty covers defects in materials or workmanship under normal, intended use—examples include:
- Stitching or seam construction failures that occur prematurely
- Hardware issues caused by manufacturing (e.g., buttons/snaps not properly secured)
If we confirm a covered defect, we will choose one of the following remedies at our discretion:
- Repair the item, or
- Replace the item (same product; if unavailable, a comparable product), or
- Provide a refund or store credit up to the original purchase price (excluding shipping, duties, and taxes where permitted)
We’ll work with you in good faith to land on the best outcome. In most cases we can honor your preference, but we reserve the right to choose the remedy based on inventory availability and the nature of the issue.
Note: Repair or replacement does not restart or extend the original warranty period.
Repairs & Lifetime Care Support: keeping gear in use
After the warranty period, we still want your gear in the field—not in a drawer. If something wears out, tears, or needs attention, we’ll help you find the best path forward:
- Repair-first mindset: When a repair makes sense, we’ll prioritize it over replacement.
- Fair-cost repairs: When possible, we’ll offer repair options and quote costs up front before any work begins.
- Care guidance: Practical help so your gear keeps improving with age.
Lifetime Care Support means we’ll always help you troubleshoot, share care tips, and recommend repair options for Terlingua gear. It is not a warranty and does not mean repairs are free. Any repair services, parts, or shipping may have a cost, and we’ll always confirm pricing before moving forward.
What the warranty does not cover
This warranty does not cover:
Normal wear and tear, including but not limited to:
- Fading, pilling, snags, abrasion, or fabric thinning from use
- Natural softening, drape changes, or “wearing-in” over time
- Minor thread pulls or cosmetic changes consistent with normal wear
Damage caused by use or care, including:
- Burns, cuts, punctures, tears, pet damage, or accidents
- Stains, discoloration, shrinkage, or warping from improper washing/drying
- Damage from bleach, fabric softeners, harsh detergents, or improper ironing
- Damage from prolonged exposure to chemicals (e.g., sunscreen, bug spray, oils) that can affect textiles
Misuse or non-intended use, including:
- Use in conditions beyond what the product is designed for
- Neglect or improper storage
Alterations and unauthorized repairs
- Tailoring, hemming, embroidery, screen printing, dyeing, or modifications not performed or authorized by Terlingua Threads
Fit, preference, or cosmetic variation
- Fit, comfort, color preference, or minor color variation between batches
- Natural-fiber characteristics (including subtle texture variation, slubs, or small irregularities) that do not affect performance
Secondhand purchases / unauthorized sellers
- Items not purchased from terlinguathreads.com, a Terlingua Threads pop-up event, or an authorized Terlingua Threads retailer
- Items purchased secondhand
Final Sale
Final Sale items are not eligible for preference-based returns or exchanges, but they are still covered for manufacturing defects under this 1-year limited warranty (to the extent permitted by law).
How to start a warranty claim or repair request
Email support@terlinguathreads.com with:
- Your order number or proof of purchase
- Clear photos of the issue (close-up + full product)
- A short description of what happened and when
- Your shipping address
We may request additional photos or information. If we need the product returned for inspection or repair, we’ll send instructions.
Shipping for warranty claims
We want warranty claims to feel straightforward and fair. To keep costs reasonable for customers while protecting the long-term health of a small business, we handle shipping like this:
- Photo-first review: We’ll usually start by reviewing photos and a short description of the issue.
- If it appears to be a manufacturing defect: we’ll provide a prepaid return label (U.S. orders) for inspection/repair or replacement.
- If the issue is not covered (wear and tear, damage, care-related issues): return shipping is the customer’s responsibility, but we’ll still help with repair options when possible.
- International: Shipping support may be limited; we’ll review case-by-case and offer the best option available.
Note: Warranty claims are separate from standard preference-based returns and do not use the $10 return-fee structure.
Limitations of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages.
- Our total liability is limited to the original purchase price paid for the product.
Implied warranties & state law rights
To the extent permitted by law, any implied warranties (including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose) are limited in duration to the 1-year warranty period above. Some states do not allow limitations on implied warranties or the exclusion of incidental or consequential damages, so these limitations may not apply to you. This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights that vary by state.
